Davy Potter was on top form to lift the 2 Ltr Hot Rod final. Gary
Grattan headed the pack until Potter zoomed past into the lead. Davy Hearst, Paul Wilson
and Alvin Doak were next to charge up the pack. Potter eased away a few cars length over
Grattan but Wilson was on a charge and soon overhauled Grattan. Doak also followed Wilson
through with Jeff Richardson pushing up to fourth. Potter was still in front with Wilson
getting closer as the laps passed. Potter kept his cool and held Wilson at bay in the last
few laps to pick up another good win. Doak held on for third ahead of Richardson, Kenny
Robinson and John Murray. In heat one Potter was again the master winning ahead of Wilson,
Murray and Wayne McClure. In heat two Richardson lifted the chequered flag beating Doak,
Murray, Wilson, Robinson and Garry Campbell.
Alan Fisher rocketed up
through the pack to take a powerful win in the Senior Production car final at Shamrock
Park on Saturday night. John Scott led away before Fisher moved into the lead. The inform
Colin McNeice was on the move through the pack and soon pushed up to second. Fisher was
well out in front but McNeice was breaking him done with each lap that passed. Mervyn
Crawford, John Griffiths, Rodney McCready and John Pickering were all locked in battle for
the minor placings. Back at the front Fisher was still holding on and managed to keep a
few cars length margin over McNeice to take an emotional win which he immediately
dedicated to the late Laura Robinson. His only thoughts were with the Robinson family.
Crawford held on to finish third ahead of Griffiths and McCready. Scott had his first win
in the heat beating Pickering, Fisher, Crawford and McNeice to the finish line.
Stuart McCammon
took the Stock Saloon final after coming home in second place. The winner on the road
Winston Weir was running on Yokohama tyres and was disqualified from the race. Johnny Hall
took the lead early on but was soon demoted by Weir. McCammon steadily moved through the
pack and by the half way stage was at Halls rear bumper. In the closing laps McCammon got
the better of Hall to take the important second place, which left him as the winner as
Weir was removed from the results. Hall claimed the runner up spot with Ronnie Wright
third and Peter McIvor fourth.
Alan Pedlow was
again the dominant force in the Junior Productions as he ripped the opposition apart to
win comfortably ahead of Glenn Bell, Shane Murray, Cheryl Murray, Neil Capper and Craig
Law. Bell was again the runner up in the heat ahead of S. Murray, Mark Heatrick and
Capper.
John Sinton was
one of only three Banger Drivers to stay running as he took the final win over Tony Mackle
and Willie McElroy. Glen Taylor was the heat winner beating Sinton and Roy Cahoon to the
flag.
Stephen Emerson
won his first Lightning Rod final this season in fine style as he sliced through the pack
to win well ahead of Andy Cochrane, Joe Best, Ian Heatrick and Rab Wallace. Heatrick was
heat one winner ahead of Emerson, Micky McFall, Nigel Jackson and Best. In heat two Best
got the victory ahead of Wallace, Heatrick, McFall and Jackson.

At Shamrock Park on Saturday night Ian Heatrick drove superbly to win the Lightning
Rod final. Stewart Doak did get past Heatrick but he came back to win with Doak slipping
back. Mo Rainey did well to finish second ahead of Stephen Emerson, Joe Best, Mickey
McFall and Fergal McNally. Rainey chalked up a double in the heats beating Heatrick,
Geoffry Martin, Doak, Nigel Jackson and Joe Best in heat one. Mark Madill was runner up in
heat two ahead of Heatrick, Best, Denver Grattan and Martin.
Davy Potter had his first final win in the 2 Ltr Hot Rods since his return this
year. The twenty-car grid was full of good battles as Potter fought his way to the front
and won ahead of Irwin Craig, Ian McReynolds, Paul Wilson, Garry Campbell and Wayne
McClure. Eddie Litter sped to victory in heat one beating Wilson, McReynolds, Gary Clarke,
Campbell and McClure. In heat two McClure romped through to win ahead of Davy Gurney,
Litter, Craig, Eric Wakefield and Alvin Doak.
Alan Pedlow was on a charge in the Junior Productions winning the heat and final.
Glenn Bell was runner up in both races while Shane Murray had a third in the final and a
fourth in the heat.
Colin McNeice swept the board in the Senior Productions beating Mervyn Crawford,
John Pickering, Gary Grattan and John Scott in the final. Alan Fisher was the runner up in
the heat ahead of Scott, Mark Wright, Crawford and Pickering.
Stuart Robinson won a shortened Banger final after a spectacular roll from Marcus
Watt brought the race to an early stop. Stephen Hollywood was runner up ahead of Warren
Thompson, Tony Mackle and Robbie Moore. Thompson won the heat ahead of Robinson, Mackle
and Moore. Watt had another turbulent race when he again ended on his roof.

Willie McElroy lifted the Banger final trophy at Shamrock Park on Saturday night with a
powerful drive to the flag. McElroy was never headed although he was under pressure from
Roger Finn in the early stages. John Sinton was next up battling with Mark Taylor and Roy
Cahoon for places. Midway through the race Finn spun out leaving Sinton up in second. Taylor was pushing hard to upset Sinton but Taylor
crashed into the fence and out of the race. McElroy
was well ahead and kept himself out of trouble to seal the win ahead of Sinton, Cahoon and
Tony Mackle. Finn just clinched the win in
the heat with a photo finish over Sinton who ended on his roof just past the start and
finish line. McElroy and Taylor were next
best.
Davy Foster coasted to a good win in the 2 Ltr Hot Rod Final. Davy Smith led away but was soon overhauled by
Foster and Eddie Litter. Next up was Gary
Grattan with Davy Potter, Alan Wilson and Smith now down to sixth. Foster crept away from Litter as the race
progressed while Grattan was about a half lap down in third. The star men as usual were having trouble getting
through the pack and it was Paul Wilson who was leading their change. Ian McReynolds, Gary
Clarke, Jeff Richardson and Garry Campbell were all dicing for places. Back at the front Foster was in no danger and
coasted on to take the chequered flag ahead of Litter, Potter, Wilson, Paul Cregan,
McReynolds and Richardson. Litter dominated
both heats winning ahead of Alan Wilson, Wayne McClure and Paul Wilson in the first while
Foster was his nearest challenger in heat two. Grattan,
Richardson, Potter and Paul Wilson were the other placemen.
Winston Weir took his first Stock Saloon final win since his return to the class
earlier this year. Keith McConkey set the
pace at the front with Mark Robinson on his rear bumper.
Stuart McCammon soon raced his way up the pack while Weir was having a slow start. McConkey started to ease away in front while
McCammon got the bumper in on Robinson dumping on top of the tyres. Weir suddenly came to life and clawed past
McCammon and went all out after McConkey. As
the laps rolled past Weir gradually reeled in McConkey and battled past to lead in the
closing laps. Ronnie Wright also came good at
the end to knock McConkey out of second. Weir
took the flag with Wright a good runner up. McConkey
and Peter McIvor were next past the post McConkey was the master in the heat winning ahead
of Robinson, McCammon, McIvor and Weir.
Colin McNeice was unstoppable in the Senior Productions racing up the pack early to
take the lead and won by a good half lap over Mark Wright, Mervyn Percy, John Pickering,
Brian Berry and Alan Fisher. Berry took the
heat win beating McNeice, Wright, Crawford and Pickering.
Fergal
McNally claimed the Lighting Rod Final after a race long battle with Vincent Litter. The pair raced off to an early lead and Litter
could find no way past. Stewart Doak came up
well but was still a long way back from the front battle.
Stephen Emerson and Mark Keys exchanged places a few times in a hard fought
race. At the flag McNally held onto victory
with Litter a close runner up. Doak, Keys,
Emerson, Joe Best and Micky Mcfall were next over the line.
Alastair Stewart beat keys, Litter, Doak, McFall and Emerson to win heat one
while in two Litter held the upper hand winning way ahead of McNally, Doak, Stewart, Keys
and Emerson.
Glen
Bell continued his good form to race off with the spoils in the Junior Production Final. Thomas McArdle had to concede to Bells pressure in
the closing laps. Cheryl Murray was third
ahead of Shane Murray and Ian Andrews. The
heat went to McArdle with C Murray, Alan Pedlow, S Murray, Andrews and Neil Capper next to
finish.

Colin
McNeice continued his good form at Shamrock Park on Saturday night with a double win in
the Senior Production cars. McNeice made his way up the pack to take over the lead from
John Scott. Mark Wright did his best to keep in touch coming up to chase McNeice for the
honours. Vincent Campbell fell back while Vincent Litter was holding onto a mid grid
placing. McNeice was on great form as he eased away to take the chequered flag and win
well ahead of Wright. Mervyn Crawford kept Davy Clarke at bay for third while Litter,
Scott, Campbell and Francis Allen completed the placings. McNeice again shone in the heat
beating Wright, Clarke, Campbell, Litter and Crawford to the winning post.
Glenn Bell got back to his best to clinch victory in the Junior Production cars.
Ian Andrews led for a handful of laps before Bell raced up and into the lead. Cheryl
Murray was in third but was soon overhauled by Alan Pedlow who went all out after Bell.
Andrews fell away badly to the back of the pack. Bell still held the advantage at the
front but Pedlow who was driving flat out was quickly within striking distance. As the lap
boards went out bell held on to lift the chequered flag in a close finish with Pedlow.
Murray held third ahead of Mark Heatrick, Ross Houston, Dean McFarland and Andrews. Heat
two results were a carbon copy of the final while in heat one Heatrick beat bell to the
honours. Andrews, McFarland and Houston were next best.
Eddie Litter was in top form to lift his first 2 Ltr Hot Rod final. Davy Gurney
returned in his new Vauxhall Nova to lead away the pack. After a few laps Litter eased
into the lead followed by Davy Foster. Next to show were Alan Wilson and Davy Potter as
they battled for position. Another dice behind saw Gary Clarke and Jeff Richardson
pressing each other hard. Richardson hit the fence and ground to a halt. Later Alvin Doak
and Ian McReynolds crashed out bringing the race to a stop. At the restart Litter soon
re-established his lead and went on to take his first final win in the ex Gurney car.
Wilson finished runner up ahead of Potter, Clarke, Gurney, Kenny Robinson in his first
outing in the class with Sean Donnelly in seventh. Davy Foster won both heats. Litter was
second in heat one ahead of Potter, Doak, Clarke and Richardson. In heat two Wilson was
second. Irwin Craig, Potter, Doak, McReynolds and Clarke were the other place men.
Willie McElroy raced away to victory in the Banger Final. John Sinton had to be
content with second ahead of Mark Taylor, Robbie Moore, Stephen Hunniford and Stuart
Robinson. Marcus Watt won the first heat beating Johnny Keys, Sinton and Glenn Taylor to
the flag. McElroy took heat two winning ahead of Sinton, Roger Finn, Robinson and Ronnie
Capper.
Brian Houston raced off with the trophy in the Stock Saloons. Keith McConkey was
well up to clinch second. Stuart McCammon was third ahead of Mark Robinson and Peter
McIvor. Robinson shone in the heat beating McConkey, Houston, McCammon, Alistair Murray
and McIvor.
There was plenty of bash and Bang in the Destruction Derby with Wayne Bird and
William Watson sharing the prize after both put up a good display of driving.

Local man Alan Wilson was in superb form to lift his first trophy of the season in the 2
Ltr Hot Rod Final at Shamrock Park on Saturday night.
Eddie Litter raced away at the off with Gary Grattan and Davy Foster in tow. Foster soon demoted Grattan to third while Wilson
was easing his way up the pack closely followed by Davy Potter. As Foster started his attack on Litter Wilson
began to zoom in on the leading pair. Foster
tried hard to get the better of Litter but it was Wilson who made a move to slice through
and take up the lead. Litter still held the
advantage over Foster, while Garry Campbell wrestled fourth from Potter. At the front Wilson was smoothly easing his way
into the lead. Litter still kept Foster at
bay in third. Wilson cruised away to take the
chequered flag and his first win since his return to the formula. Litter held on for runner up ahead of Foster,
Campbell, Jeff Richardson and Ivan McMillan. Foster
had better luck in the heats winning both in style. Litter,
Grattan, Campbell, Wilson and Potter were next best in heat one. Wilson, Potter, Richardson, McMillan and Campbell
were the other place men in group two.
Alastair Stewart raced off to victory lane in the Lightning Rod final as all the
action happened behind him. Mark Madill and
Fergal McNally had a titanic battle for second. McNally
was all over Madill but found it impossible to get ahead of him. Next up was Andy Cochrane who nipped past Ian
Heatrick. Joe Best and Nigel Jackson were
also in the thick of the action. Stewart was
away in the distance as Madill held off McNally. Eventually
McNally made it past with Cochrane also getting the better of Madill to take third. Cochrane was soon past McNally but there was no
way he could pull back the leeway on Stewart. When
the flag fell Stewart was a clear winner leaving Cochrane an excellent runner up. McNally held station for third ahead of Jackson
and Best. Stewart also clinched the heat
beating McNally, Madill, Heatrick, Best and Cochrane.
Colin McNeice and Johnny Hall both driving under the number 35 took the honours in
the Senior Productions and Stock Saloon finals respectively.
McNeice had a task on his hands as Vincent Campbell sped away from the off with
Mark Wright in second. McNeice was on Wrights
rear bumper pressurising him for second. When
McNeice eventually got by, his chances of catching and passing Campbell looked slim. Campbell kept his foot down and maintained his
half lap lead. Nearing the end Francis Allen
spun out partly blocking the track. This lost
Campbell valuable time and enabled McNeice to cruise up to his rear bumper. On the next lap McNeice shot past Campbell to
take the win. Davy Clarke made a late charge
to also get the better of Campbell and clinched runner up.
Campbell was now third with Allen fourth.
Campbell and McNeice diced for supremacy in heat two with Campbell scorching
through to win on the last bend. In heat one
Campbell also beat McNeice to the flag.
Johnny Hall showed no mercy in the Stock Saloons as he took a determined win. Hall was well out in front but was reeled in by
Alistair Murray and the battle began. Murray
knocked Hall off his beat but Hall came back strong and spun Murray out in the closing
laps. Hall was the king on this occasion as
he took his first final win of the season. Stuart
McCammon made it up to second with a recovery Murray third ahead of Peter McIvor. Hall went clear to win the heat ahead of Murray,
McCammon and Winston Weir.
Ross Houston stopped Alan Pedlows domination of the Junior Productions with a close
win in the final over Pedlow. Glen Bell,
Thomas McArdle, Darren Gass and Mark Heatrick filled the other places. Pedlow had the upper hand in the heat winning
ahead of Bell, McArdle, Houston, Gass and Heatrick.
There was a bit of controversy in the Banger final when Marcus Watt was denied the
win. Watt beat off all the cars to cross the
line first but he was adjudged to have started on the wrong place on the grid. John Sinton inherited the win ahead of Stephen
Hollywood, Mark Taylor, Glen Taylor, Dale Mardell and Stephen Hunniford. In the heat Stuart Robinson got his first win
beating Willie McElroy, Watt, G. Taylor, Sinton and Johnny Hawthorne.

Davy Foster was on top form in the 2 Ltr Hot Rods to chalk up a treble victory.
Foster got off to a flyer in the final leaving Davy Potter, Alan Wilson and Paul Cregan to
argue over second. Their battle continued throughout the race with Jeff Richardson, Ronnie
McMillan, Alvin Doak and Gary Clarke in close contention in the next batch as they diced
for position. Foster soon encountered the back markers and he sliced through them to keep
a good advantage over Potter. Wilson was pressurising Potter but couldnt find a way
past. Cregan also kept up his challenge but there was no opening, as he stayed tucked in
behind Wilson. As the laps ran out Foster was well clear to take the chequered flag.
Potter, Wilson, Cregan, Richardson and McMillan all made the top six. Foster was well in
control to win both heats. In the opener he held off Wilson with Cregan, Richardson, Garry
Campbell and John Murray next home. Potter took the runner up spot in heat two with
Wilson, Cregan, Richardson and McMillan the best of the rest.
Fergal McNally raced off with the top prize in the Lightning Rod final. At the
start McNally edged out Ian Heatrick to take up the lead with Heatrick dropping another
place as he was taken by Vincent Litter who moved into second. British Champion Stewart
Doak was on a charge from the back and had a brief battle with Litter as he slotted into
second. McNally was in good form as he kept his nose in front. Doaks late challenge was
all in vain as McNally kept his lead right to the Chequered flag leaving Doak as the
runner up. Litter did well to hold third with Stephen Emerson fourth ahead of Nigel
Jackson and Heatrick. McNally took heat one from Mark Madill, Jackson, Emerson, Litter and
Heatrick. In the other heat Madill took the lead and went on to win ahead of Heatrick,
Doak, McNally, Litter and Emerson.
Brian Berry drove all out to lift the Production Car final giving him his first
final win in the class. Berry got a good start leaving John Scott and last weeks
winner Mark Wright in his wake. Mervyn Crawford was steadily moving up the pack as he
battled with Wayne Hewitt and Francis Allen. Berry kept on increasing his lead as Wright
moved up to second with Scott leaving the action. Davy Clarke was on the move from the
back of the grid but he was unable to dislodge Wright from second spot. Berry never put a
wheel wrong as he went on to take a fine win leaving Wright, Clarke, Crawford, David
Alexander and Allen to fill out the other places. Clarke was the man to beat in the heat
as he romped through to the front to lead home Crawford, Wright, Scott, Hewitt and Berry.
Alan Pedlow trounced the opposition once again as he won the Junior Production car
heat and final. Glenn Bell put in a late challenge but it was all for nothing as he
finished second. Thomas McArdle, Darren Gass, Mark Heatrick and Dean McFarland were the
next best. In the heat Bell was again runner up to Pedlow ahead of McArdle, Gass and
Heatrick.
In the Stock Saloons Alister Murray tasted victory with his first final win. Long
term leader John Hall went out after Murray got the better of him with four laps to go.
Winston Weir came through to take second with Stuart McCammon and Peter McIvor next past
the post. Hall was the heat winner beating off Richard Forsythe, McCammon, Weir, McIvor
and Murray.
Glenn Taylor again dominated the Bangers with a double win. John Sinton finished a
good runner up in both heats followed by Dale Mardell who finished third in both. Robbie
Moore was fourth in the final while Mark Taylor was fourth in the heat.

Local Man Joe Best raced to his first final victory in the Lightning Rods at
Shamrock Park on Saturday night. Fergal McNally and Glenn Madill diced side by side in the
opening laps. It wasnt long until Best overpowered both to go into the lead. Vincent
Litter also seized his chance to nip into second with Ian Heatrick in third. Best surged
ahead leaving the rest to argue over second. The new British champion was next to move up
and soon got the better of Litter and Heatrick. Nigel Jackson, Mark Keys and Andy Cochrane
battled for position and moved well up the pack. Best was in no danger as he raced on to
lift his first final victory. Doak surged up to secure the runner up spot. Jackson,
Cochrane, Kenny Robinson and Keys completed the top six. Jackson was on song to win the
first heat ahead of Best, Cochrane, Stephen Emerson, Madill and Litter. Heat two boosted
Bests confidence as he won ahead of Cochrane, Doak, Keys, Robinson and Jackson.
Wesley Duprey kept his foot down to
stay ahead to win the 2Ltr Hot Rod final. Duprey immediately went into the lead with Davy
Foster, Eddie Litter, Paul Cregan and Alan Wilson all fighting it out behind him. Away
down the grid the star men were battling for supremacy. John Murray headed the charge with
Garry Campbell, Ian McReynolds, Alvin Doak and Gary Clarke all in the thick of the action.
Duprey was still the leader of the pack but it was Wilson who was on a mission as he moved
up to second leaving Litter in third. Murray was the first of the star brigade to move
well slipping into fourth. McReynolds was also keeping in touch in fifth. As the laps ran
out Duprey eased past the back markers to go on and clinch a good victory. Wilson had to
settle for runner up ahead of Litter, Murray, McReynolds, Doak and Davy Potter. In heat
two Duprey raced away to win ahead of Wilson, Cregan Campbell, Wayne McClure and Foster.
In the other heat Duprey romped to victory holding off Wilson, Litter, Foster, Cregan,
Jeff Richardson and Ivan McMillan.
Mark Wright finally got it together to race to victory in the Senior Production car
final. Mark Hewitt led away but soon pulled out leaving Vincent Campbell out in front with
James Reid next in tow. Campbell had a good lead built up but it was Mervyn Crawford who
pulled back the leeway while Reid slipped down the pack. Campbell continued in the lead as
Crawford gradually reeled him in closely followed by Wright. It was soon a three way dice
for the lead with Wright getting the better of Crawford. Later Campbell ran out wide
allowing Wright to dash into the lead followed by Crawford. Campbells race was soon
over as he ground to a halt. Davy Clarke and Paul Wilson driving Brian Berrys car
were having a big dice with the battle intensifying. Clarke was slowing down the pace and
Wilson shunted Clarke into the fence. Clarke got going again but was struggling with smoke
coming from the tyre. Back at the front Wright went all out to take victory over Crawford,
Wilson, Clarke and Reid. Campbell took the honours in the heat ahead of Wright, Clarke,
Crawford and Reid.
Alan Pedlow was away like a rocket to stay well ahead to win the Junior Production
car final. Mark Heatrick, Shane Murray, Thomas McArdle and Craig Law filled the other
places. Pedlow also ran away with the heat with Glenn Bell, Heatrick, Darren Gass and Neil
Capper next in line.
Brian Houston completed
his first double in the Stock Saloons in a badly depleted line up. Alistair Murray came in
second in both races with Peter McIvor third in the final. Mark Robinson finished third in
the heat with Paul and Peter McIvor next past the post.
Glenn Taylor took the Banger final winning ahead of Dale Mardell, Willie McElroy,
John Hawthorne and Robbie Moore. Stuart Robinson was the heat winner ahead of Moore and
Geoffrey Martin.

Lightning
Rods British Championship Final |
Stewart Doak is the new British Lightning Rod Champion after fighting off a strong
challenge from Davy Hearst at Shamrock Park on Saturday night to clinch the title. During
the qualifying heats on Friday night most of the drivers struggled to keep on the track
due to the appalling weather conditions. Defending champion Kenny Robinson landed on top
of the safety barrier in the opening heat and Nigel Jackson hit the fence hard putting him
out. Doak seemed to be enjoying the conditions as he shot up into the lead. Davy Hearst
was the best of the rest in second. However at the flag Hearst took the win as Doak was
adjudged to have made contact with another driver during the race and was docked one
place. Richard Boulton finished in third. Stephen Emerson raced to victory in the other
qualifier with Mark Madill, Doak, Leyland Marsden, Dale Atkinson and Boulton next over the
finish line.
The weather was kinder the following night for the championship final. Doak claimed
pole position from Hearst with Emerson and Boulton on row two. Doak held the lead in a
frantic start to the championship but Denver Grattan crashed out along the back straight
bringing out the reds. Take two and Doak held the advantage once again as Emerson and
Hearst scrapped for second. Emerson went a bit sideways and allowed Hearst to push through
eventually leaving Emerson down in seventh. It wasnt long before Hearst caught up
with Doak to let the race begin for real. These two battled hard with Hearst diving in and
out trying every move he knew to take the lead from Doak. It was breathtaking action as
Doak defended his lead. Relief was soon awarded to Doak as Hearst went out with a flat
tyre. Mo Rainey was now on a charge as he had inherited second and was clear of the battle
for third between Boulton, Mark Keys and Emerson. Doak was now on a dream drive to the
winning post with Rainey still holding onto second. The dice was now on for the runner up
place as Emerson went through to third and began to pull back some leeway on Rainey. The
laps ran out leaving Rainey in second with a fast finishing Emerson still in third. Doak
scooped the Championship and title with last years champ Robinson on a late charge to
claim a credible fourth spot. Keys, Boulton, Jackson, Joe Best and Fergal McNally
completed the top finishers.
Best took the heat win after the big race. Early leader Vincent Litter was battered
by a couple of drivers who seemed to want to go through him rather than round him. Doak
took second with Jackson third. Andy Cochrane, Litter and Hearst rounded out the top six.
The racing over the two day meeting was excellent and enjoyed by all. Racing is
back to normal this Saturday night at 7.15pm with Junior and Senior Productions, 2 Ltr Hot
Rods, Lightning Rods, Stock Saloons and Bangers all on display.

SALOON BRITISH MASTERS FINAL |
Scottish ace Gordon Alexander came and conquered all in the British Masters Stock
Saloon Championship final at Shamrock Park on Saturday night. Qualifying heats at
Ballymena Raceway were completely dominated by Alexander at the wind and rain swept
raceway. Pete Hunter was well out in front in the opener but a late charge by Alexander
netted him the win. Shaun Webster took third. In heat two Webster had a spectacular crash
knocking a big hole in the wall and sending himself onto his roof. Alexander again came
through to win beating World Champion Steve Santry to the flag. Defending Champion Davy
Hearst came home third.
For the Final at Shamrock Park Alexander was in pole with Santry alongside him.
Tommy McCrory and Hunter were on row two. At the off Santry made a good start with
Alexander next ahead of Stuart Shevill, Hunter and Keith McConkey. Alexander soon bashed
through to the lead as Santry dropped back down the grid. Tommy McCrory left the action
early having been spun out. The leading positions were changing rapidly with Shevill
grabbing second and Hunter taking third. McConkey was on a charge as he got up the inside
of Hunter but a recovering Santry put the bumper in and spun him out. Alexander stayed
ahead and increased his lead as the battle raged behind. Santry got past Hunter while
Hearst was starting to show in fourth. A wheel and large tyre were flipped onto the track,
which brought out the reds. Aleaxanders lead had now vanished but at the restart he still
kept his nose in front. He went on to win comfortably ahead of Santry, Hunter, Hearst,
Shevill, Dougie Wilson, Johnny Hall, Alistair Murray, Mark Robinson, Vernon Moore and
Peter McIvor. Alexander was determined to win the race for his seriously ill pal Robbie
Hearst who is Newry Hospital. After the race Alexander went to the Hospital to give Robbie
the winning Trophy as a present. Alexander also won the other heat coming from the back to
beat Hunter, Brian Houston, McConkey, Moore, Shevill and Richard Forsythe.
Vincent Litter chalked up a double win in the Lightning Rods. In the heat he had a
clear win over Nigel Jackson, Denver Grattan, Mark Keys, Mo Rainey and Stewart Doak. In
the final Andy Cochrane and Stephen Emerson tangled and the race was red Flagged. Litter
who had been leading had it all to do again. He was able to re-establish his lead and went
on to win ahead of Joe Best, Keys, Doak, Grattan and Rainey.
Cheryl Murray took the final in the Junior Productions. Shane Murray had built up a
big lead but as the rain came down Cheryl began to reel him in to soon pass him for top
spot. She went on to victory ahead of S. Murray, Glenn Bell, Darren Gass, Alan Pedlow and
Ross Houston. S. Murray took the heat win over Bell, C. Murray, Mark Heaterick, Gass and
Craig Law.
Davy Foster took his first win in the 2 Ltr Hot Rods. Wesley Duprey led for half
the race until Foster pushed through to lead. He held off a strong challenge from Gary
Clarke in the closing laps to become the victor. Ian McReynolds was third ahead of Duprey,
Alan Wilson, Gary Grattan and Davy Potter. Alan Wilson took the heat win beating Clarke,
Duprey, Jeff Richardson, Eddie Litter and Foster,
Colin McNeice reeled in Brian Berry and John Scott to lift the Senior Production
car final trophy. Andy Stewart put in a late challenge but had to settle for second. Davy
Clarke was third with Berry, Mervyn Crawford and John Pickering filling out the top six
places. Berry was the master of the heat holding on ahead of Vincent Campbell, Clarke,
Scott, Stewart and Pickering to take the win.
Francis Allen clinched the Banger
Final leading John Sinton, Dale Mardell, Geoffrey Martin and Roy Cahoon to the flag.
Martin beat Sinton in the heat with Glen Taylor and Mardell next best.

Ex Lightning Rod ace Jeff Richardson made a big impact in the 2 Ltr Hot Rods at Shamrock
Park on Saturday night with a great hat trick of wins.
Richardson has just a few races under his belt and was out in his new car. He quickly worked his way up past early pace
setters Gary Grattan and leader Davy Foster. Alan
Wilson debuted his immaculate new Hot Rod and the hard work that he put into building his
car proved well worth the effort. Paul Cregan
was another with a new car on show. The
bright yellow machine with silver sign writing certainly looked the part. Wilson wasted no time getting into the action and
showed no fear as he diced side by side with Wayne McClure.
John Murray was moving better than of late as he battled up the pack
although he later went out when in fourth place. Once
in front Richardson only had to cope with the back markers in the last quarter of the
race. Foster stayed static in second while
Grattan went out of the race. Cregan clung
onto third while Garry Campbell and Ian McReynolds were locked in combat for fourth. At the flag it was Richardson well clear of Foster
with the ex Stock Saloon driver having his best result to date finishing runner up. Cregan was a good third ahead of Campbell,
McReynolds and Wilson. Murray finished
runner up to Richardson in heat one while Cregan, McReynolds, Campbell and Paul Wilson
held the next four places. Cregan was runner
up in heat two with McReynolds, P. Wilson, Murray and Campbell the other major place men.
Kenny Robinson raced
away to victory in the Lightning Rod final. After
a brief spell in the lead by Vincent Litter, Robinson nipped passed into pole position. Double heat winner Denver Grattan was holding on
in third while all the action was back down the pack.
Stephen Emerson was the best of the star men, flying through the pack. After a long battle with Mark Madill he went right
up into third relegating Litter down the grid. At
the front Robinson was eating up the ground and was almost half a lap ahead of Grattan. Emerson soon got the better of Grattan and went
all out after Robinson. Robinson was so far
ahead he did not need to worry about the challengers and clinched his first victory of the
new season over a quarter of a lap ahead of Emerson.
Grattan was third ahead of Nigel Jackson, Mark Keys and Stewart Doak. Jackson was runner up to Grattan in the heat with
points leader Keys third. Emerson, Andy
Cochrane and Madill completed the top six. Robinson
followed Grattan home in heat two with Emerson, Jackson, Keys and Doak the other place
men.
Mark Robinson was in superb form to
complete a double win in the Stock Saloons. Robinson got away ahead of Vernon Moore and
Johnny Hall. Alistair Murray in his newly acquired Sierra was in blistering form as he
zoomed up the pack. Brian Houston soon came
under pressure from Keith McConkey and Richard Forsythe putting him well down the grid. Robinson was away out in front while Hall got the
better of Moore moving up to second. Murray also clawed his way in front of Moore, as did
McConkey and Forsythe. Hall was gradually
reeling in Robinson but the few car lengths left at the chequered flag gave Robinson the
victory. Hall was a good runner up with
Murray, McConkey, Forsythe, Houston and Moore the next placed men. The placings in the heats were exactly the same as
in the final.
Shane Murray just
scrapped over the finishing line by a whisker in the Junior Production final to beat the
in form Glenn Bell. Alan Pedlow, Darren Gass,
Mark Heatrick and Cheryl Murray completed the placings.
Bell raced through to beat S. Murray in the heat.
Gass, Heatrick, C. Murray and Pedlow were next past the winning post.
Willie McElroys Banger was written off in last weeks encounter but he burnt the
midnight oil to put a new car on track. It
was on the last lap in the final that McElroy removed Johnny Keys from the lead position
to lift the winners trophy. Keys
recovered to finish second with Dale Mardell, Stephen Hunniford, Robbie Moore and Billy
Cahoon next best. Keys took the heat win
beating Hunniford, Moore, Roy Cahoon, Neil Ballintine and B. Cahoon.
Davy Clarke reigned supreme with a double win in the Senior Productions. Mark Wright finished runner up in the final ahead
of Andy Stewart, John Pickering, Mervyn Crawford and Andy Stewart Snr. A. Stewart was runner up in heat one followed by
Wright, Pickering, Crawford and Stewart Snr.

Ronnie McMillan scorched to a great hat trick of wins in the National Hot Rod World
Championship qualifying races at Shamrock Park on Saturday night. McMillan recorded his
first ever win in the Nationals and then added another two to his collection for good
measure. He won the final with ease after getting away like a rocket. As Stewart Doak and
Wayne Woolsey began the battle for second place McMillan eased out a lead for himself. It
soon became clear to see that Doak was not on the pace as Davy McCall and Keith Martin
started to pile on the pressure for second. Martin did all he could to get up the outside
of McCall but just couldnt mange the pass. With over half distance gone Woolsey
forced a gap at the Chalet bend to flash past Doak along with McCall and Martin. Woolsey
pulled back some leeway on McMillan but the laps ran out very quickly leaving McMillan to
win by over a quarter of a lap. McCall was a close third while Martin was left well behind
in fourth. In heat one McMillan made it count with a good few laps under pressure from
Doak. McMillan survived and went on to win his First National race with Doak, Woolsey,
McCall, Martin, Andrew Murray and Gary Woolsey the other finishers. The second heat was
similar to the first until in the closing laps when Martin shot past McCall and W. Woolsey
to snatch third spot. Doak held second with W. Woolsey finishing fourth ahead of Murray,
G. Woolsey and McCall.

Glenn Bell was in top form as he lifted the Stadium Championship trophy for Junior
Productions at Shamrock Park On May Day. Bells good performances in the heats gave him
pole position and he romped away at the off with Cheryl Murray in hot pursuit. Darren Gass
came through well and caught up with the leading pair but he couldnt get the better
of Murray. Bell kept the power down and won with ease ahead of Murray, Gass, Mark
Heatrick, Shane Murray and Craig Law. Gass took the heat win ahead of Bell, Heatrick, S.
Murray and Law.
Davy Clarke took the
honours in the Stadium Championship for Senior Productions. Luck was on his side as long
time leader Andy Stewart crashed onto the top of the fence. The opening laps saw Stewart
well ahead of Clarke before Stewarts demise. Clarke seized the opportunity to race on to
take the Championship and trophy. John Pickering was well back in second with Mervyn
Crawford, John Scott, Mark Wright and Vincent Campbell next best. Pickering came in first
in the heat ahead of Stewart, Clarke, Crawford and Scott.
Paul Wilson got off to a
flyer in the 2 Ltr Hot Rod Stadium Championship. He led Garry Campbell in the early laps.
The forty Lap final was packed full of incidents with a big grid of cars on show. Gary
Clarkes race ended in disaster after a battle with Ivan McMillan, which saw both spinning
out although McMillan managed to get back into the race. Back at the front Wilson was just
keeping ahead of Campbell while Jeff Richardson and Ivan McMillan shot up the pack into
third and fourth. There was no stopping Wilson as he went on to a good win ahead of
Campbell, Richardson, I. McMillan, Ronnie McMillan and Rab Forsythe. I. McMillan was the
heat winner ahead of Richardson and Paul Creggan.
Ronnie Wright was a surprise winner of the Stock Saloon Stadium Championship. It
was Richard Forsythe who went into the lead and was quickly followed by Davy Hearst. As
the laps went by Hearst got closer to Forsythe and it looked like it was going to be a
close finish. Mark Robinson was pushing hard for positions and spun out Alistair McCammon
causing chaos as the leaders approached. Forsythe ended up in the fence with Hearst
banging into the back of him. Wright found a gap and was through to the lead with Alistair
Murray coming through to second. Hearst managed to get back into the race and was soon up
to third. At the flag Wright was ahead of Murray. Hearst stayed in third with Brian
Houston, Paul McIvor, Peter McIvor and Robinson the other finishers. Robinson was the
master in the heat winning from Hearst, Forsythe, Houston, Murray, Keith McConkey and P.
McIvor.
Dale Mardell mastered the Bangers to lift the Stadium Championship Trophy. Malcolm
Willis led for most of the race with John Sinton in close contention. In the closing laps
Sinton spun out Willis leaving the way clear for Mardell to scoop the victory. Sinton
finished runner up with Stephen Hunniford the only other finisher in third.
Nigel Jackson was the King of the Lightning Rods as he won the Stadium Championship
leading from the flag ahead of Stephen Emerson. A big accident sent Ian Heatrick on his
side with his car going up in flames. The race was stopped and the fire was quickly put
out with the driver ok. At the off Jackson again kept his nose in front and went on to
lift the honours. Emerson was well up in second ahead of Davy Hearst, Joe Best, Mo Rainey
and Mark Madill. Best took the heat win beating Emerson, Denver Grattan, Jackson, Stewart
Doak and Hearst.

Teenage lady driver Cheryl Murray took her first
ever win in the Junior Production cars at Shamrock Park on Saturday night. Last year
Cheryl battled it out all season long and wasnt afraid to mix it with the boys. A
new car and a very wet track saw Cheryl race to a great double victory. In the final
Thomas McArdle led away until the inform Darren Gass scorched past. Glen Bell then also
got into the fray in third. It wasnt long until Murray was up to the back of Bell
and promptly went past while McArdle spun out landing on top of a tyre. With Gass out in
front Murray didnt seem to mind the pouring rain as she ate up the ground to
overhaul Gass and go into a comfortable lead. Bell was also in good from as he too got the
better of Gass to go out after Murray. When the flag went out to a delighted Murray, Bell
was within striking distance but had to settle for a good runner up place with Gass third
on this occasion. In the Heat it was Murray who stamped her authority on the race coming
through to win ahead of Bell, Gass, Ross, Houston and McArdle.
Willie McElroy hit form
in the pouring rain to lift his first Banger final win. The usual bash and bang race had
plenty of incidents with cars crashing out into the fence. McElroy got away well and
avoided the major incidents to continue to lead. Marcus Watt also kept out of trouble to
get up into second. McElroy just kept the foot down and was never headed as he went on to
take the chequered flag. Watt held on to the runner up spot while Glen Taylor made a late
dash into third ahead of Tommy Hawthorne and Dale Mardell. Hawthorne was the heat winner
ahead of Watt, David Patton, Billy Cahoon and Francis Allen.
Nigel Jackson put in a
super performance to lift the Lightning Rod final in atrocious conditions. Fergal McNally
got a good start at the front followed by Denver Grattan and Joe Best. As the rain
continued to pour down the star men started to show their skills with Jackson pulling in
the leaders. Best was soon over powered and a few laps later Jackson began his attack on
Grattan. He was soon through to second and almost immediately got past McNally who quickly
dropped back to fourth. Andy Cochrane was the other star man to catch the eye as he
pressed up the pack to follow Jackson into second. Jackson was well in control at the
front although Cochrane did close the gap in the final stages. Jackson still took the
honours ahead of Cochrane, Stephen Emerson, Grattan, Mark Keys and Best. Heat one went to
Mark Madill with Jackson, Keys, Emerson, Cochrane and Best the other place men. In the
other heat Best took his first win in the class with Jackson runner up ahead of Madill,
Emerson, Cochrane and Grattan.
Wayne McClure took the
2 Ltr Hot Rod honours after double heat winner Ivan McMillan and Eddie Litter crashed out
while well out in front battling for the lead. There was again a big field of cars and
McClure clawed his way to the summit and won well ahead of Ronnie McMillan, Ian
McReynolds, Garry Campbell, Clive Richardson, John Murray and Davy Foster. McReynolds was
runner up to I. McMillan in heat one ahead of Rab Forsythe, Gary Clarke, Foster and
Murray. In heat two Litter was runner up with McReynolds, Forsythe, Campbell, Clarke and
Murray next best.
Davy Clarke continued
his domination of the Senior Productions with a great treble victory. Clarke was
absolutely flying and won all three races by a half lap. The wet track obviously suited
Clarke and he clawed into John Scotts half lap lead to trounce all opposition. Scott held
runner up in the final keeping John Pickering at bay with Andy Stewart, Mervyn Crawford,
Alistair McCann and Vincent Litter next. Pickering was second in heat one ahead of
Stewart, Crawford, Scott and Colin McNeice. In heat two Scott was second with Pickering,
Stewart, McNeice and McCann the top six finishers.
Davy Hearst was again
in fine from as he raced to a double victory in the Stock Saloons. Mark Robinson was the
early leader in the final with Vernon Moore pushing him hard for the lead. It was ten laps
before Hearst came through to catch and pass Moore. With five more laps gone he slipped
past Robinson to take the lead. Stuart McCammon and Keith McConkey had a race long battle
with McConkey gaining the upper hand on this occasion. McConkey raced on to second
followed by McCammon. At the flag it was Hearst well clear of McConkey, McCammon, Richard
Forsythe, Moore, Ronnie Wright, Tommy McCrory and Peter McIvor. Robinson had to be content
with runner up to Hearst in the heat with Forsythe, McCammon, Paul McIvor, McCrory,
Wright, Moore and Paul McIvor completing the placings.
Saturday night sees the
return of the National Hot Rods for the eighth round of the World championship qualifiers.
Stewart Doak sadly has been missing from the Lightning Rods along with Father Alvin Doak
in the 2 Ltrs. Hopefully both will be back soon. Stewart will have to be back on
track in the Nationals where he will be starting behind Wayne Woolsey in his quest for a
coveted place in the World Championship grid. There will be Stadium Championship heats for
all formulas on Saturday night with the finals taking place on Monday at 3pm for the big
May Day Holiday meeting. The Monday meeting will also boast a big Van and Car Destruction
Derby so dont miss the exciting two day meeting.

Davy Clarke was a deserved and surprised winner of the Senior Production Car final
at Shamrock Park on Saturday night. Lightning Rod driver Alastair Stewart was driving Mark
Hewitts car without a change of number and without permission from race officials started
at the front of the grid. Stewart led away and kept Hewitts car in front to the finish.
John Scott and John Pickering were having a tussle, which ended in both hitting the fence.
Back down the pack Clarke was picking his way up through the field and by half distance
was reeling in Stewart. Gary Grattan and Mark Wright had a race long battle and were too
busy to notice Irish Champion Andy Stewart as he flashed past into third. At the flag it
was Alastair Stewart just ahead of Clarke. Alastair Stewart was immediately disqualified
giving a delighted Clarke the win. Andy Stewart was elevated to runner up ahead of
Alistair Mccann and Grattan. John Pickering beat Clarke in the heat with McCann, Colin
McNeice, Brian Berry and Wright next best.
Stephen Hollywood took his third Banger final on the trot in a crash and bang
affair that left over half the cars entangled in the fence. Willie McElroy led away with
Francis Allen in tow. These two ended up battling for over half the race. Hollywood crept
up and shot into the lead while all around cars were being hurled into the fence. Allen
eventually got the better of McElroy as he scraped past into second. He couldnt
however make any impression on the leader Hollywood. The red flags came out with about six
laps to go leaving Hollywood to make it a clean sweep of Banger finals for the season so
far. Allen was well clear of McElroy with Dale Mardell home in fourth. Hollywood also
excelled to win the heat ahead of McElroy, Mardell and Johnny Hawthorne.
Markethill Teenager Darren Gass was
again in top form to win the Junior Production Car final. Thomas McArdle led away ahead of
Shane Murray with Gass soon putting them under pressure. McArdle tried hard to hold off
Gass but all was in vain as Gass eased his way into the lead. Mark Heatrick was next to
show as he came through the pack. McArdle held him off for a few laps but he later spun
out of contention. With Gass in the lead Heatrick was now in second and pulling back the
lee way on Gass. It was left up to Gass to keep his nerve which he did as he sped on to
lift the chequered flag just ahead of Heatrick. McArdle recovered to finish third ahead of
Glenn Bell, Ross Houston and Murray. Heatrick was the best in the heat winning ahead of
Houston, Gass, Bell and Cheryl Murray.
Davy Hearst was on song to power through a big grid of Stock Saloons to lift the
final trophy. Mark Robinson dashed into the lead with Johnny Hall on his rear bumper.
After a few laps Hall spun out Robinson to go into the lead. Stuart McCammon pressed up to
second with Davy Hearst also on a charge in third. Hearst was soon up and past McCammon
and on his way after leader Hall. With three laps to go Hearst was in striking distance of
Hall. On the penultimate lap Hearst sent Hall into a treble spin as he went on to take the
victory. McCammon was second ahead of Richard Forsythe, Ronnie Wright, Keith McConkey and
Brian Houston. Hall was in form to lift the heat win beating McCammon, Forsythe, McConkey,
Wright and Robinson.
Ivan McMillan powered away to lead the
2 Ltr Hot Rod final leaving Colin McFarland, Davy Foster and Gary Clarke to argue over the
next few places. The big grid of cars produced breath taking action and meant hard work
was required if the Star men were to have any chance of coming from the back to take a
win. McMillan increased his lead at the front but with just four laps to go was knocked
out of the race after a mistake by Sean Donnelly. This caused a pile up and brought the
red flags out. McMillan was awarded the win ahead of McFarland, Clarke, Foster, Ian
McReynolds and Garry Campbell. Paul Wilson was heat one winner beating McReynolds,
Campbell, Wayne McClure, Clarke and John Murray. Heat two was Clarkes turn to carry
the chequered flag ahead of Campbell, Wilson, Rab Forsythe, Eric Wakefield and Clive
Richardson.
Fergal McNally was again the master in the lightning Rods winning the final ahead
of Andy Cochrane, Stephen Emerson, Nigel Jackson, Joe Best and Mark Madill. The heat win
went to Jackson. Denver Grattan, Best, Mark Keys, Emerson and Mickey McFall were the other
place men.

Local man Fergal McNally who
recently moved into the lightning Rods chalked up a double success at Shamrock Park on
Saturday night. McNally got away well to lead the pack ahead of Denver Grattan and
Alastair Stewart. Down the grid there was some good close racing with Joe Best, Stephen
Emerson, Nigel Jackson, Andy Cochrane and Mark Keys all battling it out. At the front
McNally was in control with Grattan still holding off Stewart for second. The big tussle
down the pack continued with Best getting the upper hand. McNally romped on to the
chequered flag ahead of Grattan, Stewart, Best, Emerson and Jackson. Best won the heat and
his first race in the class since moving from the Productions. Grattan was again in second
with Keys, Emerson, Cochrane and Jackson next past the winning post. McNally raced away
with the other heat leaving Stewart, Best, Grattan, Keys and Emerson in his wake.
Stephen Hollywood
won his second Banger final in a row with a blistering performance. Willie McElroy was the
early leader but Hollywood made it through to the front. Eight cars had gone out of the
running but it was still no easy win with Star man Warren Thompson coming through to take
a close second. Johnny Hawthorne was at his best for a good third place finish ahead of
Dale Mardell. Glen Taylor and Robbie Moore battled it out for the heat honours. Taylor was
the victor with John Sinton and Thompson next home.
Jonathan Hall enjoyed a
double success in the Stock Saloons. An excellent turn out of Saloons made for some
interesting racing. Hall was the leader of the pack beating Vernon Moore at the start.
Next up was Philip Telford who didnt last long in third as he retired to the infield
leaving clean air for Tommy McCrory to go after the lead duo. Back down the field Davy
Hearst and Stuart McCammon were in combat and with a few laps to go McCammon was spun out.
Hall was soon under pressure from McCrory who had now disposed of Moore and was on a
charge. A relieved Hall just about held on for his first final win. Hearst managed to
overhaul Moore for third with Keith McConkey and Peter McIvor next to finish. In the heat
Hall was again top dog as he held off Hearst and McCammon for the win. Richard Forsythe,
McCrory and McConkey filled out the top six.
Markethill wonder kid
Darren Gass again cleaned up in the Juniors. Once he had got past Dean McFarland he was
clean away. Mark Heatrick and Glenn Bell had to settle for second and third respectively.
Ross Houston and Cheryl Murray were the best of the rest. In the heat Gass made Heatrick
and Bell suffer once again as he took the chequered flag. Murray and McFarland were next
across the finish line.
Irwin Craig was at
his best to record a great treble in the 2 Ltr Hot Rods. In the final he kept his nose in
front of a big grid of cars. His early challenger was Wesley Duprey but he was soon in the
shadows. Back down the pack one to watch was again Ian McReynolds as he came up past a
string of cars into fourth by lap twelve. In the end Craig was the outright winner ahead
of Gary Clarke and Colin McFarland. McReynolds netted fourth ahead of Davy Foster and
Duprey. In the opening heat Craig managed a close win over McReynolds, Ivan McMillan, Eric
Wakefield, McFarland and Wayne Woolsey. In heat two McFarland was the runner up ahead of
Wakefield, Clarke Woolsey and McReynolds.
Davy Clarke produced
the goods to clinch a photo finish in the Senior Production final. John Scott led for a
couple of laps before leaving a gap for Clark and John Pickering to dart through. In the
closing laps Champion Andy Stewart moved up to second and closed right up on Clarke. A
last lap scrap left Clarke the winner in a very close finish that saw him lift the trophy.
Pickering held on to third ahead of Mark Wright, Scott, Gary Grattan and Mark Hewitt.
Pickering took the spoils in the heat ahead of Clarke, Wright, Johnston Black, Scott and
Grattan.
The star attraction
this Saturday night is the Destruction Derby with all the other usual classes taking part.
Action gets underway at 7.15pm

Poyntzpass man Wayne
McClure took the 2 Ltr Hot Rod final in superb style battling through a large field of
cars at Shamrock Park on Saturday night. Wesley Duprey headed Ivan McMillan and Davy
Foster at the off. Action was great all down the pack with the star drivers having their
work cut out to get up into the points. It wasnt long until Foster lost a rear wheel
causing a pile up and bringing the reds out. At the restart McMillan just about got his
nose in front before McClure came through like a rocket to take the lead. Alvin Doak and
Ian McReynolds were also on a charge as they made their way up into the points
positions. McClure kept the power on and went for the win, which he took comfortably ahead
of runner up McMillan. Doak kept McReynolds at Bay with Garry Campbell and Eric Wakefield
next over the line. Duprey did well to take the heat win ahead of Paul Wilson, McClure,
McMillan, Gary Clarke and Doak.
Davy
Clarke left it late as he clinched victory on the last lap of the Senior Production car
final. James Reid and John Scott lead the early challenge with Reid holding on better only
to be overhauled a few laps later by John Pickering. Vincent Campbell lost his grip on
third as Clarke shot up through the pack and relegated him to fourth. Pickering looked
safe at the front but Clarke was still on a charge and went past Reid like a shot to go
after Pickering. Clarke was eating up the ground and with the final lapboard appearing
Clarke seized the chance. He edged Pickering out on the last bend for a great victory.
Reid held third with Gary Grattan, Andy Stewart and Winston Weir next over the line.
Pickering beat Clarke in the heat with Stewart, Grattan, Mervyn Crawford and Scott in tow
rounding out the top six.
Davy Hearst made his first
appearance of the new season in the Stock Saloons and turned up the power to win the final
in fine style. Brian Houston led away but made a mistake and crashed out leaving Tommy
McCrory to take up the lead. Returnee Jonathan Hall also bit the dust while Hearst was
making inroads up through the pack. Stuart McCammon was next to emerge as a threat to
Hearst going all out after him. Richard Forsythe, Keith McConkey and Peter McIvor were
locked in battle down the pack. Back at the front McCrory was under pressure from Hearst
who soon banged through to the front. McCammon followed on the attack as he encountered
